Fraction Puzzle

Elise has had this puzzle for a few weeks, but she’s not spent much time working on it. To me it looks like quite a simple puzzle but it was only when I was observing her that I realised why it was not as straightforward as it looks. In order to complete each portion of the puzzle, first you need to have it clear in your mind that it makes up a cylinder. After this, every time you put a new piece in you need to work out which way to orientate it in order to make up the circle. It so easy to take for granted the things we as adults can do without giving it a second thought, but then to realise how much they are learning and developing every day really puts things into perspective.
